Wedding ceremonies in Johannesburg, done properly
Johannesburg is one of the most diverse cities in the world, and that shows in the weddings we have had the privilege of officiating here. Ceremonies in penthouse gardens in Sandton, in heritage-listed homesteads in the East Rand, on private smallholdings outside the suburbs, and at intimate restaurants in Parkhurst and Melville.
We are licensed marriage officers and we live and work in Johannesburg. That means we understand the city's venues, we know the practical realities of traffic and logistics, and we know how to read a crowd and keep a ceremony feeling human even when everything else is moving at wedding speed.
What to expect from us
Before the day, we meet with you — in person or over video — to understand what you want. We listen to what matters most, take notes on the practical details, and help you shape a ceremony that sounds like you rather than a template from 1994.
On the day, we arrive early, we know the space, we have read the room before anyone else is in it, and we carry the ceremony from the moment the music starts to the moment you both say yes.
We have officiated over 5 000 ceremonies. We know what can go wrong, which means almost nothing does.
Legal and official
We handle the official marriage registration as part of the ceremony. South African law requires a licensed marriage officer to be present and to sign the DHA-24 register. We take care of all of that so you do not have to.
If you need guidance on document requirements, previous marriages, or foreign nationals, we cover that in our initial consultation. Nothing unexpected on the day. See our documents checklist for a full breakdown of what you need to bring.
Ceremony types available in Johannesburg
We offer a range of ceremony formats — from a full legal civil wedding to an intimate elopement or a relaxed micro-wedding for your closest people. If you are not sure which is right for you, visit our ceremony options page or get in touch and we will help you figure it out.
- Civil wedding — the full ceremony, legally registered on the day
- Elopement — just the two of you and two witnesses, anywhere in the city
- Micro-wedding — up to 30 guests, everything that matters, nothing that doesn't
- Symbolic ceremony — a full celebration without the legal registration
